The many intakes, brilliant shape and huge diffuser says it all: most details aren’t just there for aesthetic reasons. Predecessor 458 already was an aerodynamic champion. The engineers who thought through the 488 however, found something others didn’t know it existed, and integrated numerous innovations. The pioneering design suits the highly attractive bodywork extremely well. It makes this Ferrari twice as good as any other supercar.
As a white sheet, the Bianco Avus lacquer covers the beautiful style elements of the Spider. At the same time, inventive details such as the trapezoidal air intakes behind the doors, splitter at the front and little curve on the rooftop, are accentuated in a gorgeous way. Black double 5-spoke wheels in the size 20” contrast sublimely with the snow white gear. Interior & options
The black leather cockpit fits like a tailor-made Italian costume. The Daytona Racing Seats are a perfect extension of your body. The carbon steering wheel and shift paddles – both part of the Carbon Driver Zone – are built from the same lightweight material as the seats. An integrated LED Shift Indicator right in front of the driver, completes the ultimate racing car experience.
No reason to complain on the other side of the cockpit either: the Passenger Display provides all kinds of information about the fabulous performance of the 488. The presence of a JBL audio system makes us wonder: who wants to put the extraordinary sound of the Ferrari-V8 to the background in order to listen to some (other) music? Of course the quality is great and your ears will love it, but you probably will use it less than the handy Suspension Lifter while taking speed bumps. Because even stationary the 8-cylinder sounds fabulous.
Technique & performance
After the Spider has raised its nose for anti-supercar obstacles, the 670 horses at the rear come in strongly and show what they do best: accelerate from 0-100 km/h within 3 seconds. The exciting tone of the Twin-Scroll Turbo-V8 gives everyone inside or near the car the feeling that the sky is the limit, instead of the specified top speed of 330 km/h.
